Semi is a Junior Graphic Design student at Pratt Institute, with minors in The Book and Photography. They were born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but are now based in Brooklyn, New York. They have previous experience as a book designer, graphic design intern, and freelance designer. They currently work as a Print Lab Technician at Pratt Institute, printing, producing, and binding student projects. They hope to work in the design, construction, and publishing of books after their studies.
Apart from graphic work, Semi also enjoys painting and experimenting with traditional Thai rice paper. These result in a sensorial experience of abstract pieces. With a body of sculptural and abstract paintings, they had their debut Solo Show on July 2023 in Ojo de Tigre, Puerto Rico, titled Devoción Violenta. Currently, they are exploring different approaches on how incorporate this medium into the craft of bookmaking and design.
